"My
younger daughter's fabric scraps (small bits
of fabric that she magpies away from my
sewing projects) were starting to consume
more than the drawer that they lived in. I
couldn't throw away her precious pieces, so
I had a brainstorm as to what to do with
them. I asked her for permission to utilize
them in a project and she graciously allowed
me access."

"Blue"
"When I was done with
the project and the results were fabulous
she said to me, "Mom, aren't you glad that
I'm a Magpie now?" I could only
respond with laughter."

"Daisy"
"I took the bits of
fabric and reduced them even more, then free
quilted them on to another more durable
piece of recycled fabric from another
project passed. I took the manufactured
fabric of much color and pizzazz...cut it
into two to three pieces of equal size and
created a woman's wallet."

"Purple Velvet"
"My "Rags to Riches" wallets are 99 percent recycled materials.
(1% is the thread I had to buy new to sew
them together, however I did use a lot of
recycled (from old projects) thread putting
them together."

"Hummingbird"
"The buttons are from
left over projects or from clothing that we
turned into rags. the binding is from old
sheets that I rescue from the thrift store
and the loops are from various cordage that
I have laying around."
Since
posting the above explanation in the
"Reduce-Reuse-Recycle" forum on the "Perfect

Communication Center, CC has
begun offered her designs at craft fairs in
the Bellingham, Washington area, where they
have been enthusiastically received. Since
most people don't get to that area, I
thought it was only fair to offer them to
the rest of the world via the Internet.
If these
interest you, take a look
inside and at the back
of one of the wallets ....
